Gordon Bloch is an airline retiree who lives in Raanana. He came to live in Israel with his wife Melanie and children in 1978. His sporting career started during a severe winter in 1991 when he began going to a gym. One of the coaches, David Kantor, insisted he do the Raanana Race [10kms] that year, and that started Gordon running with Raanana Runners. David then suggested that he try cycling and soon found that he had a talent for the bike. Next Gordon started swimming and participating in short triathlon competitions and found “that the more I suffer, the more I enjoy!” He progressed to Olympic distance triathlons, half ironman, has run marathons in London, New York, Lausanne, Venice, and the Ferrari Marathon in Marenello, Italy. Gordon trains 2-3 times a day.
